Diatomaceous Earth Application

Diatomaceous Earth application can be seen in variety of industries including pest control, soil conditioner and animal health. Its remarkable features, such as high absorbency, lightness, and porous structure, render it advantageous across different sectors, while its natural sourcing and non-toxic nature strengthen its appeal as an eco-friendly choice. As the demand for sustainable, non-toxic, and efficient alternatives to chemicals and synthetic materials increases, diatomaceous earth is expected to maintain a significant presence in various industries.

Pest Control

Diatomaceous Earth  application is commonly employed as a natural insecticide. DEE-E  may feel as though it has a fine powdery texture, but each particle actually has sharp edges that are invisible to the naked eye. The edges cut into insects’ exoskeletons and simultaneously absorb body fluid from their bodies , which dehydrates them and eventually kills creatures like slugs, beetles, ants, and mites. Luckily, Diatomaceous earth isn’t particularly dangerous to helpful pollinators like bees when sprinkled on the ground, but avoid applying any of the powder directly to flowers in order to keep bees safe. Apply it on the  rug ,upholstery or any area where you suppose bugs, cockroaches or pests may be . Broom or clean  the area first, then spread a good  amount of DEE-E  over the whole surface. Leave it for 4-12 hours and then clean. Repeat weekly for 3-4 weeks. You can also dust it around the exterior part of your home as well as the interior part  where pests like Spiders ,Cockroaches  and ants appear. Safer and cheaper than harsh chemicals. Indoor prevention of Insects (bed Bugs, Cockroaches, crickets, fleas, ticks, spiders, etc.)

Soil Conditioner

In farming practices, Diatomaceous Earth application  function as a natural insecticide, as mentioned earlier.

Make your own potting mix using diatomaceous earth for plants that require a more porous planting medium. It’s particularly useful for bonsai plants and other houseplants grown indoors in hydroponic containers. It ensures the plants roots get more air while simultaneously improving drainage and creating looser soil. DEE-E doesn’t provide any nutrition, so fertilizers  may be necessary.  Dust a small amount of DEE-E , where Popillia Japonica (Japanese beetles) or other unwanted pests (Crickets, earwigs or  wireworms) will come in touch with it. Make sure to keep it away from insects that you want to keep alive,  like bees. For effective  results apply the treatment  when the area is wet.  Indoor houseplants infected with spider mites, fungus gnats, pill bugs, or aphids , any other pest with an exoskeleton would benefit from an application of diatomaceous earth. Sprinkle the DEE-E  on the soil’s surface when it’s dry to the touch. Since it’s so absorbent, it won’t be able to absorb oils from pests if it has already absorbed moisture from wet soil.

Can Easily Clean Oil and Grease Spills
DEE-E works quickly to clean up liquid spills such as oil or grease. It can be used on hardwood floors, garage floors, driveways, and carpets. The porous diatoms that make up DEE-E are very absorbent and soak up liquid messes thoroughly.
At what point does an issue escalate beyond a paper towel? Grease can leave a residue that DEE-E will absorb more efficiently than a flimsy paper towel or cloth. DEE-E is more effective at absorbing grease residues than a thin paper towel or cloth. The region may become slippery owing to oil residue. It is dangerous to have either of these messes close to youngsters. DEE-E is able to pull liquids away from the floor and keep residue from remaining.

Follow the steps below to see how DEE-E can help clean up greasy and oily messes:
Step 1: After the spill, don’t wait too long. Take DEE-E in good quantity and cover the spill with a thick layer of DEE-E.
Step 2: Depending on the amount of the spill, wait 2 to24 hours for it to be absorbed. This gives the DEE-E as much time as possible to absorb the spill; DEE-E can hold up to twice its weight in liquid.
Step 3: When you return, gather any remaining diatomaceous earth and put it in the dustpan. Before vacuuming, break up any clumps if the spill is on the carpet. Make sure it’s completely dry before vacuuming. It’s normal to observe dust emerging from your hoover bag. Vacuum the area thoroughly.
Step 4: If the spill leaves a stain, you might need to scrub the stain and clean it with hot, soapy water. To avoid scratching the hardwood, use additional care when handling it. The stain should be easier to clean after the use of DEE-E.
And for removing oil and grease from the floor, simply cover the oil spill with DEE-E in good quantity, covering the oil spilt area, then wait for 5-10 minutes for OIL and 2 to 3 hours for grease. After that simply broom the floor.
